Turkey produced record crude steel production of 3.11 million tons in December. Total crude steel production in 2011 grew by 17 % to 34.1 million tons.

According to the figures of Turkish Iron and Steel Producers Association, Turkey's total crude steel production up by 14 % yoy to 2.89mmt, record monthly high.

Turkey's total crude steel production was 29.14m tonnes in 2010, up by 15.2 % from 25.3m tonnes in 2009, according to the DÇÜD data.

Turkey's capacity utilisation in crude steel production declined from 78.5 % October to 72 % in November 2010.

Turkey's total crude steel production increased by 15.7 % yoy in November from 2.14mmt to 2.48mmt, while production is down by 8.3 % mom from 2.7mmt.

Turkey's total steel import from the EU Region increased by 32.4 % from 3.05mmt to 4.04mmt during the first 10 months of 2010, while import from the CIS down by 10.3 % from 4.66mmt to 4.18mmt.

During Jan-Oct 2010, Turkey's total steel export to the North Africa was 2.13mmt down by 49.7 % yoy from 4.23mmt. Export to Asia dropped by 43% and EU by 16.5%.

Turkey's total flat steel import increased by 36.1 % during the first 10 months, hot rolled flat steel accounted for 56.5 % of the total flat steel import.
